1. Describe a typical day at Masthaven?

Vibrant – as the office is always full of energy and life, Rewarding – as it is a great feeling to complete a case and get positive feedback from our brokers and clients and busy! – as there is always something to do!

2. Explain the things you like most about your job?

The thing I enjoy most about my job is that every case I work on as an Underwriter is different, no two development cases are ever the same. Each development brings its own challenges and quirks and it is my job as an Underwriter to provide our clients and brokers with the highest level of service possible and to work with them through any issues that may arise. I gain great satisfaction from creating a relationship with our clients and watching their projects progress from the initial spade in the ground to a newly built fully completed property. Secondly, the thing I like most about working at Masthaven is the people. I feel lucky to be part of a highly talented group of people who all share the same values and work ethic.

3. What are your hobbies and interests

I enjoy live music, good food, spending time with friends & family and supporting the best football team on the planet Manchester United!

4. If we gave you £50 right now, what would you spend it on?

Probably a quality steak dinner and a glass of merlot!

5. What’s the most interesting deal/case you’ve worked on?

We have worked on a case recently where our clients exchanged a while ago to purchase a flat site valued at around £560,000, they then got permission to start building on the site between exchange and completion and have since become well progressed with the works and the site is now valued at £1,200,000. We are now lending them the funds they need to complete the purchase of the site, as well as reimbursing the clients for the build costs spent to date and giving them the funds to complete the build. This is just an example of how Masthaven do not use a ‘one size fits all’ approach to our Development finance and will always try and structure a loan to assist a client’s unique situation.
