Senior Manager – EWRM (Prudential Risk) (12-month FTC)

Purpose of Role

The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of EWRM as part of a small EWRM team providing expert enterprise and prudential risk management services within the Bank. The position is responsible for providing guidance and oversight of the Bank’s prudential risks i.e. those that can reduce the adequacy of its financial resources, and as a result may adversely affect confidence in the financial system or prejudice consumers. Key prudential risks are credit, market, liquidity and operational.
The Senior EWRM Prudential Risk Compliance Manager is expected to abide by the conduct rules under the SMF regime.

Key Competencies

  • Expert knowledge of regulations related to PRA prudential risks
  • Able to interpret regulatory rules and guidance and translate these to the business, making clear the requirements and the risks, alongside monitoring implementation progress.
  • Strong financial analytical skills together with ability to convert into concise and clear management information and reports to CRO, Risk ExCo and Board
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the business, providing support and gaining trust through action
  • Confident in representing the Bank to regulators and industry bodies
  • Capable of developing the function and managing through change


  • 8-10 years demonstrable experience as a risk practitioner ideally with a background of EWRM and Prudential Risk, a regulated company/ regulator or similar body
  • A recognised qualification in financial management is preferred (e.g. Accountancy, FRM)
  • Strategic thinker whilst able to manage day-to-day operations
  • Capability to influence senior management as well as more junior members of the business
  • Detailed understanding and practical application of ICAAP, ILAAP, Stress Testing, Credit & Operational Risk
  • Depth of understanding in relation to the requirements for RWAs under Basel 3 & 4
  • Practical application of EWRM framework and deep knowledge of the 3 lines of defense model
  • Good understanding of Model Risk SS3/18 regulations and how to embed this across the Bank
