Investors not given financial advice when they needed it the most

Posted: May 20th, 2010

Almost 60 per cent of investors have required more support from their financial adviser over the last year, according to a research conducted by Skipton Financial Services.

The poll also reveals that more than 60% of the respondents have not reassessed their investments in over a year and 20% have not done so in more than three years.

Over the last year, the UK economy has gone through a rather lean patch.
To guard their investments in such a torrid economic period, most investors have felt the need for more help from their financial adviser. And yet, less than a quarter of these investors have resorted to an investment review during this period. The age group most in need of sound financial advice is 35-44.

Managing Director, Skipton Financial Services, Mark Fleet said it was upsetting to see that investors have been shortchanged for strong financial advice at a time when they needed it the most and stressed the need for support for them in both good and bad times.
